David Livingstone was attacked by a furious lion one of the villages
he was visiting. The people who lived the village were afraid of the
lion and would not get near it. Livingstone faught the lion and killed
him, but the lion had bit Livingstone on the shoulder. His arm never
functioned right again, but that did not stop him from the mission
work he was going to do. This picture is from his home town
where they built a sculpture commemorating the event.
